What is the shelf life of HALLS? How do I tell if these are still good?

HALLS products have a shelf life of 2 years. Please refer to the box on the back of your HALLS package for the "Best if Used By" date.

How many HALLS cough drops can I take? What is the recommended dose?

For adults and children 5 years and over: dissolve 1 drop slowly in the mouth. (For Strawberry, Tropical Fruit, Sugar Free Kiwi-Apple and Sugar Free Honey-Berry flavors, dissolve 2 drops, one at a time, slowly in the mouth). Repeat every 2 hours as needed. For children under 5 years, ask a doctor.

For adults (age 18 and over), we recommend that you take one drop 3 times per day. Do not exceed 6 drops per day.

What is Menthol?

Menthol is a topical anesthetic for relief of sore throats. Menthol is also a cough suppressant. To find out more about the menthol in HALLS products, click on the Drug Facts tab within the products on our product page.

Are there benefits to natural menthol compared to artificial menthol and what are the differences?

While both 100% natural and regular menthol are equally efficacious and start providing relief within 10 seconds, natural menthol offers an option for consumers who prefer natural products. Menthol found in our other products has the identical physiological properties and offers the same therapeutic benefits as natural menthol, but is a derivation of peppermint oil that goes through a purification and separation process.
